We have selected as our theme: “Touches of Evil” and so present a cadre of films that examine the manifestations and consequences of evil in society, in neighborhood, in family, and in tortured individuals. Our pre-Halloween date prompted our attention to this macabre program and we expect as we tromp through the extremes of darkness that flashes of light will surprise us and maybe even save us. The recent tragic events in New York and
Washington, D.C. have put the theme of evil front and center in our individual
and collective thinking and feeling. Viewing the varieties of evil
portrayed in film will provide us an opportunity to confront the power
of evil and to construct appropriate intellectual, emotional and spiritual
responses. We invite you to join us in this inescapable project
of finding meaning in the faces of moral terror.
