Confronting Holocoaust:  Can We Reconcile Acts of Great Evil With the Presence of a Loving God?
Sunday, October 28, 2001 at 3:10pm

The Festival’s Sunday Documentary and Short Films Program consists entirely of films concerning the Holocaust perpetrated by the Nazis during World War II.  As a prelude to the film program, we will examine this topic through conversation, with a distinguished panel of guests sharing their wealth of knowledge about the Holocaust.  It is our prayer that, as we confront one of the monumental evils of the 20th century, we gain insight into the recent horrific events, which have forever stained the dawn of a new millennium.  Can we reconcile such hatred and evil with the presence of a loving God?  And how does such a loving God guide us to respond?  Join us in a search for answers.

Confirmed guest speakers:

Guido Fink, an Italian Jewish child survivor of the Holocaust, is a professor at the University of Florence, Italy, currently Director of the Italian Culture Institute of Los Angeles, and a writer and a lecturer on various aspects of Jewish literature and films.

Marcia Reines Josephy, Director and Curator of the Jewish Federation’s Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust.

Eugene Mornell, Executive Director of the Skirball Institute on American Values, will moderate the discussion.

Admission is Free.
