![]() For our 10th Anniversary, we looked back over our history, searching for a theme on which to focus the celebration. What became clear was change... Change happens! And sometimes (hopefully) what changes is our understanding. If we understand today as we did yesterday, we're not paying attention. One of the long term goals for CAFF has been to constantly raise, even redefine our individual understanding. By examining films that challenge and expand our understanding, we reach for discernment. Myth has been a tool in that quest for discernment in most cultures. What it means, how it fits into our lives, is one of those changing things. How it's been reflected in film and how film reflects our evolving mythologies is our current focus. Why we're different... For those of you who don't know us, the screenings of classic films are the beginning -- what separates CAFF from other festivals are the context setting essays and the panels that follow each screening. Populated by the best and brightest, the panel discussions are always illuminating, thought provoking and, many times, as filled with drama and conflict as the films that inspire them. NEW and IMPROVED! One important improvement this year: Our film essays have been expanded to serve as tools for anyone interested in our mission, even if you can't attend the festival. Now, they're a year round, online resource for the growing universe of filmmakers, cinephiles, educators, and students joining our virtual conversation.
